Coronavirus: travel outside the European Union is no longer prohibited

Coronavirus: les voyages hors Union européenne ne sont plus interdits

The minister’s latest ‘honourable’ law lifts all travel bans at our borders. The trip to the country of Belgium, however, was “not recommended”.

The message was made public during a press conference of the consultation committee last Wednesday: from Monday April 19, non-essential travel from Belgium to another country of the European Union is not prohibited.

The communication of our agencies on non-essential travel to other “foreign countries”, that is to say outside the Union, on the other hand, does not appear. Codeco only notes that at this level, “European laws still apply”. This probably suggests, or at least the way the media interpreted the information, that walking in this system is prohibited for Belgian citizens, except for very important reasons.

Unsurprisingly, due to the new ‘charismatic’ order issued by the minister, however, he lifted all foreign travel restrictions for Belgians.
